Cancel or delete?
Cancel when the event is not happening. The event stays in Freshmint, read only, and everyone involved is told.
Delete when the event should not exist at all, for example a test. It is removed permanently.
Both are permanent and cannot be undone.
Who can do it
Only the primary host and admins in the primary host's organization. Co-hosts and sponsors cannot cancel or delete an event.
Cancel an event
- Open the event and go to the Settings tab.
- Select Cancel Event.
- Confirm with Yes, Cancel Event.
The event becomes read only and its page shows that it was canceled. All attendees and co-hosts are notified.
You cannot cancel an event that is already Complete.
Delete an event
- Open the event and go to the Settings tab.
- Select Delete Event.
- Tick the box to confirm you understand it is permanent, then select Yes, Permanently Delete Event.
Automatic cancellation
If an event reaches its start time with no attendees and no co-hosts or sponsors, Freshmint cancels it automatically. See How an event moves from Active to Live to Complete.
Common questions
Can I undo a cancellation? No. To run it again, duplicate the event.
Can I reschedule instead? Yes. Change the date in the editor and publish. Confirmed attendees and hosts get the new details. See Edit an event after publishing.
